Detlef Knappe
Dr. Detlef Knappe is a professor of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering. His research interests include drinking water quality and treatment, water treatment processes for organic micropollutants, water reuse, and organic pollutants in solid waste landfills. Dr. Knappe’s research includes developing and assessing treatment processes for organic pollutants and reconciling the gap between the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act by creating information about the effects of unregulated contaminants in drinking water. He is a Trustee of the American Water Works Association’s Water Science and Research Division, a member of the Drinking Water Committee of US EPA’s Science Advisory Board, and a topical editor for Drinking Water Engineering and Science.
