OneWASH
NC State is leading an innovative and interdisciplinary group called OneWaSH (One Water, Sanitation and Health) which aims at propelling the development of a 21st century sanitation and water infrastructure for underserved communities.
Our Vision
We envision a future of sanitation, water, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure innovation technologies co-developed with underserved communities to support their well-being and sustainable development.
Our Goal
Together with University South Florida (USF), North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University (NCAT), and San Diego State University (SDSU), NC State is building a sustainable and scalable innovation ecosystem based on active partnership and engagement with underserved communities, policy makers, and industry to address drinking water, sanitation, stormwater and resilience to water events.
Making A Difference
We’re making significant impacts on the “quality of life” of underserved communities, by:
-
Advancing fundamental knowledge in basic science and engineering in innovative decentralized water and sanitation technologies
-
Developing and testing infrastructure for the partner communities for real-world solutions
-
Developing a novel virtual testing facilities for communities and stakeholders to input their specific data and constraints
-
Pushing forward a new type of environmental engineering that responds to those with the most need, thereby decreasing current inequities in access and benefits from technological advancement, and contributing to a more equitable, fair, and sustainable society
